1: Belize City - Belize Zoo - Xunantunich Maya Ruins -
Chaa Creek.
Your
Honeymoon
package begin with a pick up at Belize airport or at a Belize
Hotel. In route to The Lodge at Chaa Creek we will visit the
Belize Zoo.
The Belize Zoo is home to over 100 species of
native Belizean animals including the tapir, black howler monkey,
scarlet macaw and jaguar. Belize City a Wildlife habitat know as the
Belize Zoo created as sanctuary for the country's indigenous
species. You will continue to the
Maya site of Xunantunich located across from San Jose Succotz,
a few miles from the western border. Before reaching the entrance of this
ancient city, you are hand-cranked across the Mopan River by a
nineteenth century ferry. As you cross the Mopan River you will
admire the natural beatify of Easter Belize with
the
great influence of
Guatemala people. Tour the site of Xunantunich and view the
breathtaking scenery of untouched jungles. Xunantunich, an ancient
Mayan temple believed to have been used for sacrificial ceremonies.
The site has a major Maya ceremonial center built atop a hill and

Day
2: Horseback Riding- Mountain Biking - Chaa Creek.
Horseback Riding
Riding is offered in the morning and afternoons. Organized trail
rides through
the
Chaa Creek Reserve can be arranged with our concierge. The ride is
approximately two and a half hours long and is accompanied by a
guide who will point out the rainforest features, including
archaeological sites and a view of the ancient city of Xunantunich.
Mountain Bikes - You may wish to encounter Belize's diverse terrain
and colorful cultures on a mountain bike. Chaa Creek has a fleet of
well-maintained TREK 950 bikes. Venture out on your own or join a
guided tour and explore the exotic tropical environment. Maya ruins,
rural villages, and jungle trails make your experience educational

Day
3: Vaca Falls & Chumpiate Cave - Chaa Creek.
In
the Vaca Falls area, the Chumpiate Maya Cave exhibits a world that
is 2,000 years old. Climb up wooden ladders leading to secret ledges
holding enormous Maya pottery. The limestone cave features enormous
caves full of secrets caves. A 20 minute jungle hike leads to the
cave. After your cave experience hiked down to Vaca Falls on the
Macal
river.
A wonderful way to cool down. The scenery of the canyon as well as
the Vaca Falls is absolutely wonderful. There is a number of places
where one can go under several small waterfall and enjoy the cool
and refreshing waters of the Macal River. (B-L-D)

4: Full day tour in Tikal and overnight -
 The
largest and most spectacular of all the Mayan Sites. Located in
Guatemala's El Peten area, near the city of Flores, deep in High
Canopy Jungle. Tikal has become a archaeological national symbol in
the region.
Tikal was one of the
most important urban Mayan centers. This is evident with its more
than
3,000
structures including palaces, temples and stelas. Tikal is a place
for wondering -- not only at the engineering accomplishments of the
Maya, but at the jungle splendors of the Peten. The site of Tikal is
a national park, where the native flora and fauna now flourish
relatively undisturbed. Howler and spider monkeys swing in the
treetops, foxes, pumas and wild turkeys roam the grounds and
hundreds of bird species, including toucans and macaws, are visible
in the surrounding jungle. Visitors are dazzled by the imposing
Great Plaza and the architectural immensity of its temples.

Day
5: Tikal - Chaa Creek.
Free
morning to expolore the Maya Site of Tikal. The ruins are so
extensive, it would would take at least two days to see it all
thoroughly, although you could visit most of the major temples in a
single day. 70 stelae and altars, two palace complexes known as
acropolis can be find here. But the colossal remains of Tikal
include many other buildings, among them Temple IV, the highest in
the area at about 200 feet. Archaeologists estimate that it required
almost 2,000 tons of material to build. At the same time, there are
another 200 altars and stelae, hundreds of burial sites and ritual
offerings. The findings in Tikal, which can be seen both in museums
in the park itself, show the delicacy of its ceramics and jade
carvings, as well as lintels carved from hardwood. All these
monuments and you will have time to explore in the morning.

6: Cahal Pech Ruins Tour & Canoeing- Chaa Creek.

Cahal
Pech is a major Mayan ceremonial center located on a tall hill
overlooking the town of San Ignacio. The name derives from a
combination of Yucatec and Mopan Maya and means "Place of Ticks".
The name was given to the site in the 1950's
when
the entire area was in use as a cattle pasture. Cattle pastures in
Belize are notorious as breeding grounds for ticks. Cahal Pech's
late Pre-Classic temples and two separate ball courts display fine
examples of Maya craftsmanship suggesting this site
was
a hilltop residence of royalty and their cadre. The site center
consists of 34 structures compacted into an area of only 2 acres.
The site lies within a beautiful jungle environment which supports a
variety of tropical plants and birds. It is possible in only a few
minutes to walk from the center of a major town in Belize to a world
of ancient monuments and natural beauty.

7: Chaa Creek - Belize City

Morning
visit to the Natural History Center and the Butterfly Farm. At the
Butterfly Farm you will enjoy view all the butterflies in Belize and
how they live in the jungle. Follow by a canoe ride down the Macal
River. The canoe ride thought the beautiful Macal
River
will give you an inside of the tropical jungle flora and fauna as
well as inform you of the old ways on accessing the Cayo area.
Return to Belize City hotel or Municipal Airport for an
approximately arrival at 4:30pm. (B-L) |
